Order Regarding Emergency Temporary Court Measures
STATE OF WISCONSIN CIRCUIT COURT MARQUETTE COUNTY
AMENDED ORDER REGARDING EMERGENCY TEMPORARY MEASURES
The Marquette County Circuit Court issued an original order on March 16, 2020. This is
an amended order based upon the Wisconsin Supreme Court’s Order dated April 15, 2020
regarding Remote Hearings during the COVID-19 Pandemic to provide procedures and
directions for proceedings and essential functions in the court until courts are allowed to have all
hearings in person. These Guidelines are Emergency and Temporary Measures ONLY
effective from April 22, 2020 until further Order of the Court. The Marquette County
courthouse remains open and any change in status will be noticed on the Marquette County
website at http://www.co.marquette.wi.us/home and the Wisconsin Court system website,
The World Health Organization declared a global pandemic of COVID-19 due to
widespread human infection worldwide. We are monitoring this situation and are committed to
open access to our courts and service to the public, and to protect the health and safety of the
litigants, judges, court staff and security, attorneys, jurors, other participants in court

Consistent with the orders imposed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, cases will proceed
as currently scheduled unless otherwise notified by the court but most will be held by audio or
video means. Pursuant to the latest order, the suspension of in-person proceedings is subject to
the following exceptions if remote technology is not practicable or adequate to address these
Jury trials, which were addressed by separate order, see In Re the Matter of
Jury Trials During the COVID-19 Pandemic, issued March 22, 2020 (issued
by Wisconsin Supreme Court).
Proceedings necessary to protect the constitutional rights of criminal
defendants and juveniles.
Proceedings involving in-custody defendants who are not being held on
any basis other than the case-at-bar, which will presumptively proceed as
